I have been part of the Birch Grove family since 2004, originally starting as Nursery Nurse and working my way up to Nursery Manager. No two days are the same and I love the diverse experiences that my role provides me with.
I am proud to work with my dedicated staff team who genuinely care about each and every one of the children attending our setting, striving to ensure the best outcomes for our children through hard work and determination.
I am passionate about high quality teaching and learning with young children and having completed my Early Years degree with Early Years Professional Status, I use this knowledge to coach and mentor my team to develop them into the best early years practitioners that they can be.

Gemma Jones, Deputy Manager (SENCO) – BA Early Years / Early Years Teacher Status
I have worked at Birch Grove for 14 years and the best thing about working at Birch Grove is the homely family feel, it is a lovely size with lots to offer to the children. Once settled, the children are always happy and enjoy making friends here! That’s what I love most about working in the early years, having a positive impact on the children’s learning, and seeing them feel happy and have fun as they learn!
Josie Jarvis, Nursery Nurse – Level 3 Diploma for the Children & Young People’s Workforce
I have worked for Birch Grove Day Nursery since September 2019 as a nursery practitioner. I qualified as a level 3 nursery practitioner in 2013, and have been attending regular training and development opportunities to keep my practice up to date. I really enjoy working for Birch Grove Day Nursery because of the fantastic and enthusiastic team. All of the staff care about each and every child’s individual needs and interests, and they show this by using the EYFS in their practice, and by providing exciting and educational activities.
Lucy Stephenson, Apprentice Nursery Nurse – Working towards Level 3 Early Years Educator
Gaynor Simpson, Nursery Cook – Level 3 Advanced Food Safety & Hygiene
I love being with the children and forming bonds with both them and their parents. I thoroughly enjoy creating meals and snacks, especially when I see the children enjoy something new and different. Seeing empty plates an hearing the children say how much they have enjoyed their lunch gives me a great deal of satisfaction. Knowing our little ones go home with full tummies makes me feel like I have done my special part in their very busy day!
Emma Hardman, Nursery Nurse – Level 3 Diploma for the Children & Young People’s Workforce
I’m one of the Pre-School Practitioners here at Birch Grove, since April 2014. I enjoy seeing our Pre-Schooler’s grow and become extremely independent whilst getting them “School ready”. It really is rewarding seeing how much of an impact you can make on ones “Pre-School Adventure”. The bond you make with children, parents and staff team is lovely! I love that my job is so rewarding and you feel like you have made a difference to someone’s day, every day!
Tasha Pritchard, Nursery Nurse – Level 3 BTEC Early Years Care & Education
I have worked at Birch Grove Day Nursery for nine years and have loved every minute of it! I have experience as a nursery practitioner throughout the nursery and for the past two years I have worked in the baby room. I enjoy working with the children to provide the best care and enjoy enhancing their learning and supporting their individual needs. I really enjoy getting to know the children and watch them as they grow and develop. As a parent of three children myself, I know how hard it can be to leave your child for the first time at nursery and that’s why I will support parents and build positive relationships. Every day I love coming to nursery to see the children with smiles on their faces and enjoying their time in nursery.
Hope Edgar, Nursery Nurse – BA (hons) Working with children, Young People and Families
I joined the team at Birch Grove in September 2019. I enjoy working as a Nursery Practitioner as I find it so rewarding to see a child progress and use skills that I have taught them through play.
